Keep Going

Hey guys, it’s Elize! Or really, call me EAF.
 

It’s late, dark, and I’m reflecting while listening to music — like many of you. If you don’t listen to music, consider yourself blessed! Today, I want to talk about the strengths we gain from experience, whether you’re in the same field as me or not.

I studied IT, specifically Cybersecurity. At first, I thought the major was just a “fancy name” for a job. But at the time, I was blocking myself from deeper understanding and learning. I had a very self-assertive tone, which especially came out when I was hurt — like being cheated on.

Because of my lack of interest in growth and comprehension, I made poor decisions, had unstable relationships, and created an unstable environment. Yet acknowledging these gaps made me notice a lack of depth in my approach to life. Looking back, I realize I’m only 22, and this self-awareness is just the beginning.

During that period, I wasn’t caring for myself. But I still cared deeply about others. When you neglect yourself, even small habits — like hygiene — can affect how others relate to you. Once I started taking care of myself, I could re-engage with the world: self-education, fostering relationships, and supporting family through morals, demonstrations, and even small gestures. That path brought me back to faith, a dream of revival through Jesus Christ.

As a problem-solver, I began applying my skills to long-term arrangements, asking questions, and seeking understanding. Often, I found nothing — everything can feel meaningless. Maybe that’s the point. This craving for depth was a turning point, echoing ideas from Anatomy of a Breakthrough by Adam Alter.

Through it all, I learned that caring for myself allowed me to care for others better. Supporting family, nurturing relationships, and developing skills — these are the foundations for long-term success. You have to know what you’re building to create something meaningful, whatever your “magical hands” are capable of.

The takeaway: keep going. Even when meaning is unclear, persistence and diligence lead to growth. You won’t always know the full picture, but moving forward is the only way to find it.
